Carproof’s dealer login feature allows authorized dealers to access more detailed information about specific vehicles, and the company continues to be compared to other similar services, such as Carfax, as well as government vehicle history reports like UVIP (Used Vehicle Information Package).
Carproof was acquired by US Carfax in 2018 and they merged into a single entity — Carfax Canada — which now offers the same comprehensive info on a vehicle’s history from reliable sources, as of this writing. Prior to the acquisition, there are some differences between the two services. For example, Carfax has a more extensive database of vehicles in the United States, while Carfax Canada has an exclusive partnership with Canadian automobile dealerships for their dealer carproof reports. Though CarProof is no longer available as a standalone service, its technology and resources have been integrated into Carfax.

As impressive as it may seem, VinAudit.ca’s retail price of $14.95 still promises the better bang for the buck compared to all three options.
Free CarProof reports can be found on many dealers and private sellers who have copies before 2018. The current version of Carproof reports is now called Carfax vehicle history reports. Users can access and look at these Carfax reports from the Carfax Canada website upon purchase, and dealers can log in to view dealer car reports. Classic Honda offers a free CarProof report on their website to help Canadians buying used cars gain valuable information as well as dealers in selling used cars.
CarProof and User Vehicle Information Package (UVIP) are both approached by consumers to provide information on the history of used cars. CarProof, known today as Carfax Canada, is originally a Canadian-based company that provides car reports that include accident history, lien status, and other important vehicle information, while UVIP is a government service that provides data on vehicle registration information, past ownership, and any liens registered against the vehicle. CarProof seems to offer a more detailed and comprehensive report despite being more than double ($46.95) of UVIP’s price ($20). However, UVIP is required by law in Ontario when buying or selling a used vehicle. Additionally, CarProof data is available via the Carfax Canada website, whereas UVIP must be obtained from ServiceOntario.
